down to the last few groceries and don't know what to make?

I run into that kinda thing a lot. Also, when I was working in case management I would often bring people to the local food pantries and would occasionally hear complains like "they gave me a bag that had tomato sauce, green beens, cheerios, hawaiian punch, a can of black eyed peas and a loaf of bread." well, maybe more then that but so many odds and ends! You get the idea.

One of my beloved rebel mamas shared this link recently :http://www.supercook.com/

you list the ingredients you have on hand and they will come up with a recipe for you.

On a side note, the two best food pantries in Portland Maine, IMO are:

The Salvation Army Food Pantry on Cumberland Ave. They give you one or two bags of food. Call first.

Project Feed in the back of Woodford's Congregational Church. Corner of Woodford & Beacon. They give you seven days worth of food. You DO need a referral slip, which you can get from just about any local social service aganecy, including support & recovery, or DHHS. Project Feed is only open from 1-3pm.
