the secret to a free car seat.

I spent like, 100 years working in case management (or so it felt like by the end of it), and every so often there would be a pregnant or parenting client in need of a car seat. The RUMOR was always that they were available through WIC (I had no luck with this), or through the city (I do not know if that is still accurate but at one time I had that number). Anyway, in my travels about Portland within the past couple of weeks, I found a form with this info:

PROGRAM FOR FREE CAR SEAT

Maine Medical Center is a distributor of free car seats to families that qualify in regards to financial income. If a family receives WIC, they automaticly qualify for a free car seat. If they do not receieve WIC, they would need to meet certain income guidelines.

The resource is located at:
887 Congress st
Portland, ME 04101

The contact name and number:

Bonnie Butt
774-2381 extension 301

the parent needs to bring the child when they pick up the car seat, because they have to adjust it to the specific child.

(form was marked as being updated 3/9/2010)
